Design & Art Direction
(D&AD)
The educational charity D&AD are considered by most graphic
designers as being the Big Daddies in the world of design &
advertising. Although not strictly speaking a design house per
say, their mission is to set creative standards, educate, inspire
and promote good design and advertising
Each year competitions are held by D&AD for design companies
and students in a range of different creative areas whereby prizes
are awarded for the best of the best.. There are also a number
of very useful seminars, talks, lectures, demonstrations and other
interesting activities available to its members
Without blowing our own trumpet too much it may be worth mentioning
that Chameleon's Creative Director, Andrew Chaplin, won a D&AD
Commendation for a corporate identity project whilst as a student
at Hertford Regional College in 1998 (see Folio)

Urban75 is a hip n' happenin' mix of interesting topics, all
piled into one handy website for your convenience. It's the kind
of website young energetic folk tend to look at for inspiration
as it does have a slight activist edge to its use of language.
However, whether you're out to fight the systems, save the rainforests
or simply annoy Tony Blair in some manner, this site will probably
be for you - if you're none of the above, then it's still quite
an interesting website to view anyway

In fact the Ware Online website ispretty big and offers web visitors
a wealth of information about Ware including where to go, what
to eat, a few historical facts about the town as well as a busy
forum allowing the locals to vent their frustrations surrounding
various hot topics

Google Earth
Now this is serious fun. Fly from space to your neighborhood,
type in an address and zoom right in, search for schools, parks,
restaurants, and hotels. Get driving directions. Tilt and rotate
the view to see 3D terrain and buildings - basically take a sneaky
peak at almost anything on the planet from space. If Big Brother
is watching us, now is the time to watch right back !
